The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF VII), a major cinematic event for the capital, will take place in the city from November 7 to 11.
Audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy hundreds of exceptional films from over 50 countries and territories.
Vu Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that the festival aims to showcase and honor outstanding international and Vietnamese films for both domestic and international audiences. It also seeks to expand Vietnam's film market globally and facilitate integration into the international film industry.
This event serves as an excellent platform to promote the beautiful and hospitable image of Vietnam, highlighting Hanoi as a City for Peace and a Creative City, while positioning Vietnamese cinema within the broader strategy for developing the country's cultural industry.
According to Vietnam Cinema Department's Director General Vi Kien Thanh and Head of the festival's organizing committee, this year features 117 films selected from nearly 500 submissions.
Attendees will experience creative works from notable film industries, including the US, France, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, India, Thailand, Belgium, Spain, and Iran.
The festival will offer free screenings at the National Cinema Center, BHD Star Cineplex, and CGV Mipec Tower. Additionally, there will be three outdoor film screenings and opportunities to interact with film stars in the Hoan Kiem Lake walking area.
HANIFF will also host several valuable professional activities, including seminars on “Country in Focus: German Cinema” and “Developing Film Production Exploring Historical Themes and Adapting Literary Works.”
There will be an exhibition titled “Vietnam’s Heritage Sites Recognized by UNESCO – Experience Vietnam,” a film project market, and various engaging film exchanges and meet-and-greet events.
Building on the success of previous festivals, this year’s HANIFF continues to celebrate films that embody creative expression and rich human values.
