Outstanding authors and translators were honored at the 2025 Literature Awards ceremony of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, held in Hanoi on March 10.
The annual award is considered one of the most prestigious literary honors in Vietnam, recognizing works of artistic and intellectual value while acknowledging the meaningful contributions of writers and translators to the nation’s literary development.

This year, nine works were selected across categories including prose, poetry, literary criticism, translated literature, children’s literature, and young authors.
In the prose category, the award went to the novel Promising Land by writer Le Thanh Ky, published by Literature Publishing House. In poetry, two collections were honored: Fragrant from Pain by poet Hoang Thuy Anh (Hoang Thi Quynh Anh) and On the Path of Hair by poet Trang Thanh (Tran Thi Thanh), both published by the Writers’ Association Publishing House.
In literary criticism, the prize was awarded to Literature as a Discourse by critic Tran Van Toan. Two translated works were also recognized: White Crane, Unfolding by Japanese writer Yoko Tawada, translated by An Nhien, and Song of Solomon by American author Toni Morrison, translated by Thien Nga.
The children’s literature award went to Panduranga Prairie by Le Duc Duong.
The Young Author Award honored Nguyen Thi Kim Nhung for the poetry collection Dawn Approaches and Cao Viet Quynh for the five-volume novel Dragon Continent.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Quang Thieu, President of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, said the honored works reflect diverse themes, styles, and artistic approaches, with many demonstrating a spirit of innovation and bringing authentic beauty from life into literary creation.
He noted that beyond recognizing creative achievements, the annual award also reinforces confidence in the enduring power of literature and the persistent artistic journey of writers.
