The 15th National Committee Conference of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, held in Hanoi on January 14, offered a wide-ranging review of 50 years of Vietnamese literature and arts since national reunification, marking a moment of deep professional and political reflection.
Organized by the Union, the conference outlined an ambitious yet concrete roadmap for renewal in the context of Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW, which has officially designated November 24 as Vietnam Culture Day.

One of the most notable highlights was the 2025 Literature and Arts Awards system. From 441 submissions, 85 outstanding works were honored, reflecting a clear leap in professional quality, particularly in literature and photography.
Beyond artistic value, many works vividly captured the spirit of national construction and defense.
The conference also reaffirmed the union’s role as a “frontline of thought” through meaningful social engagement.
Artists and writers raised funds to support the Cuban people and communities in Vietnam’s central and Central Highlands regions affected by floods.
While modest in monetary terms, these contributions carried strong symbolic significance, underscoring the close bond between artists and society. Challenges were acknowledged, especially administrative delays linked to organizational streamlining and mergers at local associations.
Associate Prof. Dr. Do Hong Quan, composer and President of the Vietnam Union of Literary and Arts Associations, said looking ahead to 2026, a pivotal year ahead of the 14th National Party Congress, the union has set out 12 key tasks focused on institutional consolidation, digital transformation, and building an international cultural presence.
These priorities aim to position Vietnamese literature and arts on firmer, more forward-looking foundations.
