The Ho Chi Minh City Museum and the municipal Antique Association on January 16 opened a thematic exhibition entitled “Spring travel - Antique viewing” on the occasion of the upcoming lunar New Year 2024.
On display are more than 150 valuable exhibits diverse in styles and materials. These are tangible cultural heritage featuring different development stages in the nation’s history of culture and being engraved with symbols of luck and goodness.

The thematic exhibition consists of four parts. The first part introduces rare seals with highly-historical values, including those dating back from the Le and Mac to the Tay Son and Nguyen dynasties. Attentively, there are seals of the mandarins who were authorized by the Nguyen dynasty to govern, establish order and discipline, expand and develop the Southern region, particularly Saigon - Gia Dinh.

The second part reflects the religious life of the Southern people while the third one features the development of Vietnam’s pottery trade in the Ly, Tran, Le, and Nguyen dynasties. Those pottery products hold historical, cultural and aesthetic values. The last part introduces ceramic and cloisonné products with typical colors and patterns.
Other meticulously-crafted products are also showcased at the event.
Open until May 16, the exhibition, as Doan Thi Trang, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum said, brings interesting experience to visitors through stories closely attached to each artifact.

The official said that many exhibits feature the formation of the Southern region, the diversity in cultural exchanges among nations and between Vietnam and other regional countries. The exhibition is a confirmation of the museum and the association’s utmost efforts to collect, preserve, and promote cultural and historical values of the antiques.
