A literary writing camp themed “Revolutionary War and Today’s Soldiers” opened on May 22, at the Vung Tau Creative House in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
The event is jointly organized by Military Literature Magazine and the Center for Literary and Artistic Creation Support.
The 10-day camp aims to provide writers with practical experiences and closer engagement with military life.

The 10-day camp aims to provide writers with practical experiences and closer engagement with military life. Participants will visit units under Military Region 7, meet officers, soldiers and historical witnesses, and gather material and inspiration for works about revolutionary war, the armed forces and today’s soldiers.
The program also seeks to improve the quality of literary works published in the magazine’s publications while discovering and selecting poetry and memoir works with artistic and ideological value for the 2026 Poetry and Literary Sketch Contest.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel and poet Doan Van Mat, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, said that the image of the soldier today carries new dimensions in modern life, from soldiers stationed in border and island areas to troops on training grounds, as well as officers and servicemen working on the front lines of disaster prevention, disease control, and search and rescue operations.

He stressed that contemporary realities require literature and the arts to approach military life with deeper humanity and fresh creative perspectives, while still preserving the spirit of revolutionary literature.
The camp also offers an opportunity for writers and poets, particularly those from Military Region 7, to exchange professional experience and strengthen literary and artistic communication in the current context.
During the coming days, participants are scheduled to conduct field trips to Division 302 and Division 5 under Military Region 7.
