Cambodia Culture Week in Vietnam opened in Ho Chi Minh City on September 28 and promises to bring classical, folk and contemporary art performance.

Co-organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Arts, the event is one of activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations and the Vietnam-Cambodia, Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, secretary of state and spokesman of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts Long Ponnasirivath affirmed that, although direct cultural exchanges between the two countries were recently interrupted due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the two sides still maintain and exchange cultural cooperation at bilateral, multilateral, regional and international levels in appropriate forms, especially through online activities.
According to Long Ponnasirivath, Vietnamese Culture Week in Cambodia took place in August and Cambodian Culture Week in Vietnam is being held from September 28, are not only the result of the implementation of the cultural and artistic cooperation plan between the two countries, but also important cultural activities on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During Cambodian Culture Week in Vietnam, Cambodia will bring a series of classical, folk and contemporary art performances including dance, singing, drama and music, including several artforms listed as UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
In addition, an exhibition entitled “Cambodia – Kingdom of Culture” will be held to introduce tangible and intangible cultural heritages, natural beauty and people of Cambodia. The event is expected to meet the needs of Vietnamese audiences and people in enjoying and learning about Cambodian culture.
Outstanding performances at the programme include an Apsara dance, a Lakhon Khol mask dance, a Cambodian folk instrumental solo, a Ploy Suoy dance, and a contemporary dance highlighting Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship.
Within the framework of the Cambodia Culture Week in Vietnam 2022, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Arts have signed a plan on cooperation in culture and arts between the two ministries for 2023-2027.
