The poetry program “Verses Shaping the Image of the Nation,” ended on August 14 in Hanoi, leaving a lasting impression on audiences, artists, and poets alike.
The event celebrated the deep connection between poetry, national roots, and the spirit of patriotism and pride in Vietnam’s independence.
Poets Nguyen Khoa Diem, Pham Sy Sau, and Vuong Trong shared their creative journeys intertwined with the country’s history. Iconic works such as Dat nuoc (The country), included in school curricula, continue to resonate with generations, reflecting the sacrifices and triumphs of soldiers.
Pham Sy Sau emphasized that poetry contributes to the nation’s historical memory, inspiring courage and reinforcing faith in the future.

Vuong Trong recounted his path from mathematics to writing wartime poetry, expressing joy when comrades recited his poems without knowing he was the author.
The S1 studio at the Military Radio and Television Center, with 400 seats, was quickly filled, with additional audiences standing to watch.
Many viewers were moved to tears as People’s Artists Ta Tuan Minh and Hong Hanh, and other performers brought poems about soldiers, war, and homeland to life.
