The People’s Public Security Newspaper has launched a short story writing contest titled “New Opportunities” (2026-2027) through its People’s Public Security Literature and Arts publication, aiming to discover and nurture prose writers while vividly portraying the image of People’s Public Security officers in safeguarding national security and serving the people.

The contest marks the 80th anniversary of the first issue of the People’s Public Security Newspaper (November 1, 1946 – November 1, 2026) and the 31st anniversary of the People’s Public Security Literature and Arts publication.

While entries are open to all themes, works reflecting the spirit of “For national security and peaceful lives” are especially encouraged.

The awards ceremony is expected to take place in June 2027 in Hanoi.

The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens at home and abroad.

Participants may submit short stories written in Vietnamese, with each entry not exceeding 7,000 words.

The People’s Public Security Newspaper and the People’s Public Security Communications Department conclude the “New Spring” poetry contest ahead of launching the short story contest.

Submissions must be original works that have not previously appeared in newspapers, publications, digital platforms, anthologies, or individual books. In particular, the organizing committee does not accept works created with the use of AI in the writing process.

Each author may submit one to three entries. The organizing committee reserves the right to publish submissions in the People’s Public Security Literature and Arts publication, on the People’s Public Security Newspaper online platform, and on the publication’s official social media pages.
