Press contest honors outstanding ideological protection works

Thirty-one outstanding journalistic works were honored at the review and award ceremony for the fifth “Protecting the Party’s Ideological Foundation in the New Situation” writing competition on May 19 in Hanoi.

Thirty-one outstanding journalistic works were honored at the review and award ceremony for the fifth “Protecting the Party’s Ideological Foundation in the New Situation” writing competition on May 19 in Hanoi.

The contest, hosted by the People’s Army Newspaper, attracted 651 entries from 72 press agencies, an increase of 110 works and 21 press agencies compared with the previous edition.

The competition, launched in response to Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW of the Politburo, has gradually become an important academic and political forum over the past five years.

This year’s awards included three first prizes, six second prizes, nine third prizes, and 13 consolation prizes to outstanding authors and author groups in three categories: central newspapers, local newspapers, and magazines.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People’s Army, praised journalists for their important contributions to safeguarding the Party’s ideological foundation during the era of digital transformation.

Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister General and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education and Mass Mobilization, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh, presented C prizes to winning authors and author groups.

According to the organizing committee, the contest has expanded significantly from 30 participating agencies in its first edition to 72 this year. More than 2,800 works from 243 press agencies nationwide have been submitted over five seasons. Experts, scientists, and senior military officers contributed nearly 45% of this year’s submissions.

The ceremony also officially launched the sixth edition of the contest for the 2026–2027 period.
