The Department of Political Education and Information under the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) held a ceremony on May 11 to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the department and the military political education and information sector (May 11, 1946 - 2026), while receiving the First-class Fatherland Protection Order.
Addressing the ceremony, General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs, praised the department’s achievements and affirmed its important role in building a military absolutely loyal to the Party, the State, and the people.

He stressed that ideological and cultural work in the military now faces increasingly demanding tasks amid rapid social and technological changes.
The general called on officers and personnel to continue safeguarding the Party’s ideological foundation, promote the virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, strengthen political education, and accelerate digital transformation in communication and cultural activities.
General Nghia also urged the sector to actively combat false information and hostile viewpoints, especially in cyberspace, while preventing moral and ideological degradation within the military.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the State President, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the First-class Fatherland Protection Order to the Department of Political Education and Information in recognition of its outstanding contributions over the past 80 years.

The same day, the department’s Party Committee and leadership also held a ceremony to report achievements to President Ho Chi Minh.
